Notice on Commercial Diversion Governance Rules

Dear REDnote Creators and Merchants,

Off-platform transactions lack the protection provided by our platform, which may result in users’ rights being compromised. To maintain platform order and better safeguard user interests, REDnote has established the following governance rules for commercial diversion behaviors:

1️⃣ What constitutes commercial diversion?

Any behavior in visible areas or user interactions involving the promotion of third-party product information or inducing users to conduct off-platform transactions, especially if it could lead to harassment or compromise transaction security, is considered commercial diversion.

Common violations include but are not limited to:

❌ Sharing WeChat IDs, phone numbers, or encouraging users to add WeChat contacts/make phone calls for off-platform transactions.

❌ Posting links to other platforms or directing users to conduct transactions on other platforms.

2️⃣ What are the consequences of violating commercial diversion rules?

Depending on the severity of the violation, accounts involved may face the following penalties:

  • Restrictions on posting by creators.
  • Limitations on merchants’ product listings.
  • Reduced traffic or abnormal statuses for shops.
  • Severe violations may result in account suspension.

If you have commercial needs, we recommend registering a REDnote Business Account or opening a REDnote Store to conduct transactions within the platform.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work together to maintain a secure and trustworthy environment for all users!

Definition of Commercial Diversion Behavior

Refers to the actions of merchants or creators who, in scenarios of displaying or interacting with consumers, publish/push third-party product information or induce consumers to third parties, potentially causing consumer harassment or affecting the security of transactions, thereby harming consumers' legitimate rights and interests.

1."Scenarios of displaying or interacting with consumers" include, but are not limited to: account homepages, posts, comments, product details, store pages, physical packaging, promotional pages, chat tools, merchant customer service, intelligent marketing SMS, live streaming interactions, live e-commerce, etc.

2."Publishing/pushing third-party information" refers to merchants or creators publishing or pushing information including, but not limited to: targeted contact information (e.g., phone numbers, WeChat, email addresses, QR codes, bank accounts, and other payment methods), third-party platform names/logos, accounts on non-Xiaohongshu platforms, URLs, or other third-party products, information, websites, or applications unrelated to normal transactions or services.

3."Inducing consumers to third parties" refers to merchants or creators inducing consumers to redirect to third-party websites, clients, or offline locations that are not official Xiaohongshu channels for transactions, or engaging in other similar behaviors that lead to transaction risks and potentially harm consumers' legitimate rights and interests.
[For merchants and creators who violate these rules and engage in commercial diversion behavior, the platform reserves the right to take one or more of the following actions depending on the severity of the situation:]

1.Restrict Account Traffic: Refers to Xiaohongshu’s right to take restrictive measures based on the specific circumstances of the user’s violation, including limiting the exposure of posts, live streams, and products; or excluding them from search results and restricting participation in Xiaohongshu-initiated marketing activities.

2.Restrict Content Publishing: Refers to restricting users from publishing or modifying content such as user profiles, posts, comments, live streams, products, and merchant customer service messages.

3.Impose Liquidated Damages: Refers to Xiaohongshu’s right, in accordance with the Xiaohongshu Store Service Agreement and these rules, to deduct a certain amount as liquidated damages from the merchant’s deposit.

4.Close Store: Refers to Xiaohongshu’s right, in accordance with the Xiaohongshu Store Service Agreement and these rules, to terminate cooperation with the merchant, close the merchant’s store, and delist all products for sale in the store.

5.Account Suspension: Refers to the suspension of accounts when the merchant’s or creator’s violation significantly damages user experience or causes harm to any third party. The platform will suspend the account and reserves the right to pursue legal action.
